The Association of Structure Wood Architecture – Ho Chi Minh City (SAWA), in collaboration with the Landscape Architecture & Arts Innovation Institute (LAA.I) and international partners, will host “Architects Talk & Drink”, a professional conversation session, on the afternoon of November 19, 2025, in Thao Dien, Ho Chi Minh City.
The event is expected to welcome around 40 invited guests, including architects, designers, business representatives, and international organizations active in the field of structural wood. The program aims to create a focused platform for knowledge exchange on the application of structural wood in contemporary architecture, while strengthening connections between Vietnamese and international experts.
The event will feature three speakers from the United States, France, and Vietnam. From the United States, Architect Scott Barton Smith (Hacker Architects) will present practical insights and case studies on structural-wood projects in the North American market, highlighting technical considerations and sustainability. Representing France, Architect Olivier Souquet (DE-SO Asia) is expected to share perspectives on hybrid material use and wood-integrated architecture in Southeast Asia. From Vietnam, Architect Lê Hồng Na will discuss ecological architectural approaches, emphasizing the use of natural materials in harmony with local climate and landscape.
Following the technical discussion, the program will continue with an evening reception and music, providing a relaxed networking space for participants. The gathering also aims to foster closer engagement between the architectural and business communities toward future collaboration with SAWA in 2026.
According to Mr. Vo Quang Ha, Chairman of SAWA, “Architects Talk & Drink is designed to promote knowledge-sharing, strengthen sector connections, and encourage the application of structural wood in modern building design. The event will be held by invitation only to ensure meaningful interaction and professional depth among guests.
