SAWA Promotes Green Building Vision at SACA Connect 2025

On August 28, 2025, at the SACA Connect event hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Construction and Building Materials (SACA), the Association of Structure Architecture Wood – Ho Chi Minh City (SAWA) delivered a compelling presentation, contributing valuable insights from the timber sector to the growing momentum of sustainable construction in Vietnam.

“Gỗ To Masstimber – Go To NetZero”: From Awareness to Action
As Vice President of SAWA and Executive Member of SACA, Mr. Nguyễn Mạnh Bình San presented the keynote:

“Gỗ To Masstimber – Go To NetZero” – Big Timber, Bold Thinking, Green Action
In his talk, he emphasized:

“SAWA is committed to changing public perception of timber materials. We believe that timber is not just an alternative solution, but a strategic choice for advancing towards NetZero emissions in construction.”

Masstimber – or large-format engineered wood – is emerging as a symbol of transformation in the global construction sector, especially in the face of climate change and the urgent demand for green materials.
SAWA’s “Gỗ To Masstimber – Go To NetZero” is a long-term strategic initiative aimed at:

Optimizing architectural and engineering efficiency in timber buildings;

Reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment;

Integrating domestic timber into the sustainable urban construction value chain.

This program also serves as a foundation for SAWA to collaborate with experts, research institutions, and businesses in developing the first professional standard for timber buildings in Vietnam, paving the way for a modern and resilient timber construction ecosystem.

Global Perspectives and Practical Solutions
In addition to Mr. Bình San’s presentation, the event featured insights from leading industry experts and international guests:

Mr. Tanaka Hideki – Director of Life Design Kabaya Vietnam and a representative of one of Japan’s leading timber architecture firms – shared his topic:

“Japanese Timber Architecture – Toward a NetZero and Sustainable Future”
Offering a unique blend of traditional design values and advanced construction technologies, his presentation inspired new possibilities for Vietnam’s construction sector to align with global sustainability standards.

Mr. Trần Ngọc Quỳnh – Director of the Center for Construction Material Technology Solutions, CIC Consulting & Technology JSC, presented:

“LCA Reports & EPD Profiles in Green Construction and Sustainable Development”
His presentation clarified how businesses can apply environmental performance standards such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) to increase the value and credibility of construction projects.

A Meaningful Gathering for Cross-Sector Collaboration
The event was proudly sponsored by Construction Corporation No.1 – JSC (CC1) as Platinum Sponsor, alongside other valued partners who contributed to making the event impactful and meaningful for all attendees.
