On the morning of August 8, 2025, more than 40 representatives from wood processing, food manufacturing, and mechanical industries participated in the online training session “Introduction to the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory Tool”, co-hosted by the Association of Structure Architecture Wood – Ho Chi Minh City (SAWA), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the National Resource Efficiency and Cleaner Production Center (NREC), and the Dong Nai Handicraft and Wood Processing Association (DOWA).
This training is part of the project “Productivity Ecosystems for Decent Work” implemented by ILO in Viet Nam with financial support from SECO (Switzerland) and NORAD (Norway).

Practical training – Immediate application for businesses
The session was led by Ms. Nguyễn Thị Truyền, Senior Expert of ILO, former Director of NREC, with nearly 30 years of experience in GHG inventory, ISO environment standards, clean production, and sustainability transition for enterprises.
Participants practiced using the GHG inventory tool at https://ghg.nrec.vn, which is currently in pilot phase. With this platform, businesses can:
-
Create an account, download the data input template, and re-upload it to the system;
-
Let the system automatically process data and generate a standardized inventory report;
-
Ensure compliance with Decree 06/2022/ND-CP, Circular 01/2022/TT-BTNMT, and reference international standards such as ISO 14064:2018.
The tool also integrates a legal document library, helping businesses easily reference national GHG guidelines and emission factors while compiling their reports.

Mr. Phùng Đức Hoàng – ILO Viet Nam representative, also attended the training and emphasized the need for Vietnamese SMEs to proactively address environmental compliance in global supply chains.
SAWA’s role in empowering green transition for the wood sector
As a co-organizer, SAWA is committed to bridging businesses with reliable resources in policy, technical guidance, and global sustainability requirements, particularly for Vietnamese wood exporters.
