Study, Business & Networking Tour in Japan’s Wood and Architecture Sector

Amid the global shift toward sustainable development, wood—particularly mass timber—is increasingly recognized as a key material in modern construction and architecture. Japan, with its long-standing tradition in wooden architecture and advanced wood-processing industry, stands out as a leading example of harmonizing heritage with innovation.

To provide Vietnamese professionals and businesses with practical international exposure, the Association of Structure Wood Architecture – Ho Chi Minh City (SAWA) organizes “SAWA GO TO JAPAN 2026”, a study and business tour combining site visits, industry insights, and professional networking.

The program covers key regions representing three pillars of Japan’s wood sector: heritage, industry, and modern applications.

Exploring Traditional Wooden Architecture

In Nara, participants will visit iconic sites such as Hōryū-ji, Tōdai-ji, and Naramachi.

These sites demonstrate advanced traditional construction techniques and long-term durability, offering valuable insights for contemporary design practices.

Industrial Site Visits – Mass Timber Production

The program includes visits to wood-processing facilities in Nara and Ehime.

Participants will gain insights into the production of engineered wood products such as CLT, glulam, and LVL, as well as quality control systems and industrial practices supporting wood construction in Japan.

Industry Trends and Networking

In Osaka, the delegation will attend Japan Build Osaka, a major exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and solutions in construction.

Additional site visits and professional exchanges are included to enhance industry exposure and networking opportunities.

Professional Exchange in Ehime

A working session with architects and wood industry enterprises is scheduled in Ehime. Discussions will focus on practical experience in design, production, and the application of structural wood in construction.

This activity aims to strengthen connections and explore initial opportunities for collaboration between Vietnamese and Japanese stakeholders.
